Tanya Auclair @ United80, Brixton Village

April 2, 2011

It doesn’t get much better than this on a Saturday afternoon in Brixton – Tanya Auclair performing outside United80 while the sun shines and the coffees smells good. I first heard Tanya through Put Me On It when she released her Thrum EP for free last July, so it was nice to see PMOI’s Amelia down our ends too!

As well as playing songs off Thrum, we heard a couple new ones including a track called ‘Origami’ – being folded into a paper plane as a beautiful metaphor for being loved – and two excellent cover versions of Chaka Demus’ ‘Tease Me’ and Roy Davis Jr ft. Peven Everett’s ‘Gabriel’ (for my back-in-the-UK-garage-days!). Hands up for ladies who rock ukeleles and loop pedals!
